NASD School Board President Writes A Response To C.A.R.D.’s Letter
On February 12, CARD wrote to the Department of General Services, to ask if JW Development’s proposal to acquire the use of NASD land for a state road and a water detention basin constitute “education and related purposes,” a restriction in the deed. On February 27 NASD School Board President wrote a response to the Department of General Services. NASD asked that a response to CARD’s letter be deferred until the School District “completes its investigation and all facts are fully defined.” Since a Term Sheet — a deal point memo between NASD and JW Development – will be reviewed and possibly signed at the March 12 meeting, CARD asks :
1) Has NASD gotten a response from the Secretary of General Services regarding approval for the proposed sale of the land, since the NASD Board is moving ahead for the approval of a term sheet for the proposed sale?
2) Does this truly qualify as educational purposes, considering a road near a proposed elementary school with possibly over 1600 truck trips a day spewing exhaust fumes and sharing that road with school buses transporting children, may not be in the best interests of the safety, health and well-being of the students?
